Aaronel deRoy Gruber: Art(ist) in Motion

A major exhibition of Aaronel's Plexiglas sculptures along with examples of her steel sculptures, paintings and photographs was held at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art March 09, 2013 - June 02, 2013. Photographs from the opening reception can be viewed here.

2012

Steelcityscape, was installed in a sculpture garden at Mellon Park on January 5, 2012 along with works by Peter Calaboyias and Tom Morandi.  Owned by the city of Pittsburgh, Steelcityscape, 1977 was first installed in the portico of the City County Building.  In 1985 it was moved to Fort Duquesne Blvd at Allegheny Riverfront Park and placed in storage a few years later when construction began for the David L Lawrence Convention Center.

 

2011

Western Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh has lost one of it's most accomplished artists

Aaronel passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, Wednesday July 6, 2011, four days before her 93rd birthday.

The Westmoreland Society, a membership group at the Westmoreland Museum of Art dedicated to the collection, preservation and advancement of American Art is pleased to announce that the Society's 2009 Distinguished Artist Gold Medal Recipient will be Aaronel deRoy Gruber. Aaronel is being honored for her significant and influential contributions as an artist and will be presented with the Gold Medal at the Society's annual dinner in December.
